Imposterly is a party game for 3–20 people on one iPhone — or on everyone’s own iPhone, joined by a four-letter room code. Everyone secretly sees the same word — except the imposter, who has to blend in. Clues, arguments, secret votes, unmasking.

It is free and has no ads, no accounts and no tracking. On one phone it works fully offline; remote play needs the internet. Privacy policy.

FAQ

How do I play? Add players, pick word packs, tap Start. Pass the phone round: each person holds their card to read it, then passes on. Everyone says one clue out loud, you argue, then everyone votes. The imposter wins by saying almost the right thing. The in-app How to play screen has the full rules and scoring.

How does remote play work? One person taps Play remotely → Host a room and reads out the four-letter code. Everyone else opens Imposterly, taps Play remotely, types the code and joins with a name and an emoji. The host starts once three phones are in. Each phone shows only its own card; everyone taps Ready when the talking is done (the host can open the vote early), votes on their own phone, and the result lands on every screen at once. Lost signal or locked the phone? Open Imposterly again and you’re back in your seat. Everyone needs the app on an iPhone — there’s no Android version yet.

What’s the difference between Classic and Decoy? In Classic the imposter is told they’re the imposter (and, optionally, the category). In Decoy the imposter is told they’re the imposter and handed a decoy word from the same category to hide behind.

Is it family-safe? Yes — every built-in pack is. If your table wants edgier material, write your own pack and mark it 18+; it stays hidden until you switch 18+ packs on in Settings.

Can I make my own word packs? Yes — Library → New pack. Unlimited, and they live only on your phone.

Does it need internet? Not on one phone — that works fully offline. Remote play needs a connection, and so does sending us feedback. A room and everything in it is deleted 30 minutes after its last move.

How do I reset everything? Delete the app. All players, settings, custom packs and word history are stored only on the device and go with it.
